When long-time friends and Jersey Shore locals Ashley DeBello, Grant Golin and Jay Vigilante started planning for the first ever Asbury Park Summer Games fitness competition, they sought to expand on the successes seen running local competitions. Having run several out of their own CrossFit box and competed as athletes in others, they aimed to take the inaugural Games to another level: make it the premiere Fitness competition in the Northeast without sacrificing the community-based feel and passion of smaller events.

The 2017 and 2018 AP Games accomplished exactly that and more with challenging workouts and a boisterous crowd.

The roster over the past two years has included included several CrossFit Games athletes and as well as top Regionals athletes, while also making the competition accessible to the local athletes that have made the burgeoning Jersey Shore CrossFit community one to behold.

the Asbury Park Summer Games

When looking for a location, Asbury Park, NJ was immediately the top contender with no better venue than the town’s historic Convention Hall, found right in the heart of the landmark Asbury Park boardwalk.

Once serenaded by Bruce Springsteen as “My City of Ruins,” Asbury Park has experienced a remarkable renaissance over the last decade and now boasts top beaches, highly rated restaurants and a big city nightlife that still maintains a smaller town feel. Athletes and spectators coming to the Asbury Park Summer Games will not only be treated to a top quality fitness competition, but endless opportunities for entertainment await after the winners have been crowned.

Looking Ahead

While humbled by the success of the first two events, Jay, Ashley and Grant and their staff of directors and volunteers aim to make the 2019 Games even more memorable as they look to bring nationwide attention to the Games, starting with $30,000 in cash & prizes — continuing to be one of the largest for an unaffiliated Fitness competition — and as always, an unforgettable after-party!

Don’t miss out on being a part of the continuing Asbury Park Summer Games tradition – the 3nd Annual Games is coming in 2019!!
